2:13-15
The
following is a Bible study originally posted on our Bible Study Group.
Today we're going to look at Colossians 2:13-15, which says,
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your
flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all
trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was
against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way,
having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers,
He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it."
Let's discuss a
few questions:
1. Read Isaiah 64:6-7. Thinking back on your life before you trusted
Christ, list specific instances of the truth of these verses.
2. According to Romans 3:19, why do laws exist?
3. List some sins you feel completely unable to overcome. According to
Ephesians 2:1 and 5, why is this?
4. According to Ephesians 2:8-9, what has God done for you? How long has
He had you in His plans?
5. After reading 2 Corinthians 6:16, name some ways being the temple of God
affects you as a (1) wife, (2) mother, (3) homemaker, (4) church member, and
(5) witness to the unsaved.
6. What is the command given in John 15:4? List the three things mentioned
in this chapter that will help you obey Jesus’ command.
7. WHEN does Jesus give us new life? List verses to support your view.
